A three-day conference on the latest methods of diagnosing and treating lung cancer with a community-oriented medical approach
Pulmonary rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a comprehensive process designed to improve respiratory function and quality of life in patients with chronic lung disorders. This program is usually implemented by a multidisciplinary team including a respiratory physician, physiotherapist, nurse and dietitian. The main goal of pulmonary rehabilitation is to reduce shortness of breath, increase exercise tolerance and improve the ability of the person to perform daily tasks. The stages of pulmonary rehabilitation include an initial assessment, targeted exercise training, training in breathing control techniques, nutritional counseling and psychological support. In the initial assessment, the patient’s respiratory capacity, muscle strength and general condition are measured to prepare a tailored program. Exercise training usually includes walking, stationary cycling and strengthening exercises for the respiratory muscles and upper and lower limbs. Pulmonary rehabilitation has significant benefits, including reducing the frequency of hospitalizations, improving daily functioning, reducing fatigue and anxiety and increasing the patient’s self-confidence. By following the program regularly, the feeling of shortness of breath is significantly reduced and daily activities are performed more easily. Psychological support and self-management education also help the patient pursue a healthier lifestyle and better control their long-term lung condition.
